Hamilton Rock and Country Interview – Nice Horse Answers
ALL ANSWERED BY KATIE
1. First off, congratulations on your recent single “Things I Wish I Didn’t Know”. What is the inspiration behind it?
A) I think we’ve all been inspired by this kind of break up, when you’re trying to move on but inevitably one person is going to move on first, and sometimes you end up with well meaning friends who tell you things you really didn’t need to know…
2. I really enjoyed your Pop Up video “High School”. What is the story behind this music video and can we expect any more videos from you in the near future?
A) We LOVE doing music videos so YES you will definitely see more of them from us. This music video happened during the pandemic – all of us band members were scattered across the country and being together wasn’t possible. We had already gone the animated route with our superhero inspired video for “Cowgirl” (which I also LOVE) and now needed something else that still allowed us to be “together” without being together. That is where this idea was born. Both Krista & Brandi had been doing a lot of film editing throughout the pandemic and so the idea took off and we pulled it together. We ended up winning our very first Canadian Country Music Award for that video and we are so proud of that.
3. Can fans expect to see you hit the stage any time soon?
A) We just finished a whirlwind summer and fall so we are winding down for the year but we will definitely be hitting the road a LOT in 2024.
4. The last time we interviewed you was a few years ago, how far have you come since 2020?
A) 2020 was the year we had our first top 40 at Canadian Country Radio with Cowgirl, we also won our first Canadian Country Music Award as well as 2 Western Canadian Music Awards. Once the pandemic cleared, we also have toured a LOT. So overall, I’d say a lot has happened since we last talked!
5. What can your fans expect to hear from you in the coming months?
A) We just released our new single “Things I Wish I Didn’t Know”, and we have a lot more music around the corner, as well as an EP!
6. Since we last interviewed you, you’ve gone on to win multiple CCMA’s. Do you have any words of inspiration for other artists new to the scene? A) Just keep going. If something doesn’t work, just keep going, or try a new approach. Just keep believing in yourself and what you are doing. Surround yourself with people who push you to be better every day
7. If you could change anything about the industry what would it be?
A) This feels like a loaded question! 🙂 I know change doesn’t happen overnight but we are always going to advocate for equality and inclusion.
