MOIST is a Canadian rock band formed in 1992 that quickly carved out a place as one of Canada’s most compelling and energetic alternative rock bands. The band released their first new album in 19 years, Glory Under Dangerous Skies (2014), which immediately rocketed to number one on the iTunes Rock Chart. The album’s first single, “Mechanical”, also topped the Canadian Rock Radio Charts.

Their early albums, Silver (1994), Creature (1996), and Mercedes 5 and Dime (1999), achieved multi-platinum success and produced hits like “Resurrection” (1996), “Push” (1994) and “Breathe” (1999).  Receiving the Best New Group Award (1995) and Best Video Award (1997) at the Juno Awards, the band earned a reputation for combining poetic lyricism with emotionally charged performances.

After an extended hiatus, founding members David Usher, Kevin Young, and Mark Makoway reunited in 2013 for a single performance. The chemistry was undeniable, and what started as a one-time thing quickly led to the production of their new album. Adding Francis Fillion on drums, Jonathan Gallivan on guitar, and Louis Lalancette on bass, the band is bringing fresh energy and perspective to this new era of MOIST.

Through songs that have always been well-crafted gems featuring great lyrical depth and virtuosic musicianship, MOIST remains one of Canada’s most distinctive alternative bands.
